Yibo Zhou

Doctoral Student

Yibo Zhou joined the Dong Lab at Columbia University in 2025. His research focuses on flexible and bio-integrated electronics, with particular interests in neural interfaces, soft robotics, and implantable medical devices. He is committed to advancing minimally invasive technologies for real-time physiological monitoring and therapeutic intervention.

Prior to joining Columbia, Yibo earned his M.S. in Computer Engineering from Northwestern University, where he conducted research in Prof. John A. Rogers’ group. His work involved the design and fabrication of implantable systems, including a wireless TAVI pacemaker and a multimodal soft robotic probe for fetal monitoring. Through this experience, he developed expertise in flexible circuit fabrication, microelectronic system integration, and in vivo experimentation.

He received his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Hainan University, where he worked on biomedical sensing and radar signal processing. These early experiences sparked his passion for bioelectronics and laid the foundation for his ongoing pursuit of innovative, human-centered medical technologies at the intersection of electronics, materials science, and medicine.
